Larry Pesavento’s Analysis of the Bradley Siderograph
On pages 28-29 of the May 2009 issue of “The Technical Analyst,” Larry Pesavento provdied his take on the Bradley Siderograph. In this article Pesavento noted that although it is not infallible, “the key turning dates in the model are very useful. In 2009 Larry Pesavento presented at the Market Technician’s Association (MTA). In this speech Pesavento went over various concepts related to the Financial Astrology and other topics. When talking about Donald Bradley’s “Stock Market Prediction,” he stated, “This is the book that changed my life.” Pesavento stated that he looked at all 3% swings in the stock market from 1876 to 1987, and [he] tried to line up the aspects…to see if there was in fact a point in time where the stock market would make a high or low at these particular times.” The accuracy was higher than Pesavento had expected. Pesavento stated that he continues to compare the Bradley Siderograph to the market and that based on his research from 1876 through 2009, the accuracy was greater than 70%. See below for a picture of Pesavento’s presentation at the MTA.
Other Trading Techniques Mentioned by Pesavento in his 2008 MTA Presentation
In his speech at the MTA in 2009, Pesavento also covered the Spira Mirabilis, which he mentioned that Isaac Newton had carved into his bed because he believed in it so strongly (i.e., Newton believed that we are always either expanding or contracting). Pesavento also discussed his use of Mercury being combust the Sun, which is similar to a conjunction of Mercury with the Sun. Pesavento described Mercury Combust as being a “very powerful timing device for the stock market.”
Larry Pesavento’s Favorite Lunar Trading Strategies
According to Larry Pesavento, “The five major lunar cycles I use in trading are:
1. Maximum or “0” Declination — The moon is either at its furthest distance from the equator or at the equator “0”
2. True node of the Moon — The true node of the moon is the only part of the solar system that turns counterclockwise. When it moves from retrograde to direct or vice versa, it will affect prices.
3. Full Moon – New Moon – Quarter Moon
4. Apogee and Perigee — Apogee is where the moon is farthest from the earth and spinning the slowest. Perigee is where the moon is closest to the earth and spinning the fastest.
5. Moon Void of Course — The moon is going from one sign of the zodiac to another sign.”
Pesavento has indicated that it can be valuable to “look for several lunar events occurring on the same day (i.e., true node change, full moon, and maximum declination).”
Moon Void of Course
While Larry was working as a commodity broker he was approached by a client who placed trades for silver based on the moon being void of course, and “her profitable streak continued for nineteen straight trades.” Apparently, “the basis of her analysis was to use the ‘moon void of course’ to initiate trades in silver. It was much more complex than just M.V.C. — She also weighted the signs differently as to positive and negative. It still works to this day and is approximately 70 percent accurate…I finally figured out that she did not trade when the moon was “void of course.”
According to Pesavento, “the ‘moon void of course’ can be used in short term trading as an intraday timing mechanism. The moon is void of course from the time it forms its last major aspect (conjunction, sextile, trine, square, opposition) to a planet until the time it enters a new sign. During this time confusion prevails, plans or projects fail to materialize, and delays can be expected…A full and new moon are also accentuated by the void of course phenomenon.”
Pesavento stated that “when the moon is void of course it represents a change in attitude in most cases…the moon goes void of course every 2 1/2 days, so watch the phenomenon during its appearance during market hours.” He even went as far as to say that “one of the best timing tools I have ever found for day trading is using the ‘Moon Void of Course’ when it occurs during market hours.”
This is only one insight into the multitude of Larry Pesavento’s trading strategies.

NEW! This is Larry Pesavento’s latest book, which was released early in 2015. It covers a variety of financial astrology techniques, including the Bradley Siderograph, which is referred to as the “Bradley Barometer” in his book. In Chapter 9 Pesavento covers the “Bradley Barometer.” The book states, “The Bradley Barometer correlated well to the markets…The Bradley does very well in forecasting the headwinds or tailwinds of long-term market moves that can occur over many months. In past years, the Bradley Barometer has worked very well in forecasting market turns.” However, Pesavento later acknowledges that sometimes the Bradley Barometer does not perform perfectly, which could be “due to a variety of factors [including] external artificial influences…Some of these factors may include high-frequency trading and/or government interference through central bank stimulus.” This book also provides some excellent diagrams of planetary aspects (see Chapters 5 and 6). It’s a little more expensive than most books, but it is one of the best I’ve come across with respect to providing an overview of the key aspects of Financial Astrology.
